Our little patch of wilderness here in Bidwell Park is host to some of our wildest fellow mammals. This week campers will learn about animals like bears, mountain lions, beavers, and coyotes. The children will become animal detectives by looking for clues to animal activity and investigating animal skulls. We’ll learn about the importance of trees in the forest and all the roles they fulfull; providing animals with foood, shelter and more. Camp Chico Creek - Aquatic Adventures - session 4Dates: 7/13/2009 - 7/17/2009 Time: 8 AM to 1 PM Contact: Chico Creek Nature Center Contact Info: (530) 891-4671 This week campers will explore the water cycle and different water ecosystems, such as ponds, lakes, rivers, wetlands, and oceans. We will be doing catch and release of aquatic insects, searching the creek for turtles, frogs, and fish, and hiking through the exciting riparian habitat of Big Chico Creek. This week we will learn about how we can live with other creatures on earth in a sustainable way. Campers will learn about positive impacts people can have by recycling and using alternative energies. We will use a solar oven to cook our very own snacks, make recycled crafts, and hike through Bidwell Park to learn about the plants and animals we share the earth with.
